American Board of Surgery in 1997 and became a fellow of the American College of Surgeons
(F.A.C.S.) in 1998. He has received numerous honors, including the Wayne State Department of
Surgery Theodore McGraw Clinical Faculty Teaching Award in 2001. He was also recognized as
one of Hour Magazine’s “Top Doctors in Detroit” in 2003.

Rachel Kapp, RD
Dr. Nunn earned his undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry at
the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1985 and his medical degree
from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1990. In 1995, he
completed his residency in general surgery at Marshall University School
of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia. Dr. Nunn has been on staff at
the Detroit Medical Center since 1995, and has been a clinical assistant
professor of surgery since 2000. He obtained certification from the
the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1985 and his medical degree
from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1990. In 1995, he
completed his residency in general surgery at Marshall University School
of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia. Dr. Nunn has been on staff at
the Detroit Medical Center since 1995, and has been a clinical assistant
professor of surgery since 2000. He obtained certification from the
Rochelle Gayeski the Bariatric Program Coordinator and Exercise Specialist at

She is a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Aerobic Instructor.
She received her certifications from the American Council on Exercise (ACE).
She graduated from Michigan State University in 2001 with a Bachelor's degree
in Business, with a minor in French. She has been in the medical field for the
past 10 years and in the bariatric field for 5 years. Her main responsibilities
include insurance: obtaining surgical pre-approvals from insurances; hosting
and facilitating all informational seminars and support Groups. She helps the
patients with their paperwork from start to finish.

Stephanie Perdue is a certified Physician Assistant specializing in surgery.
She received her undergraduate degree in biopsychology and cognitive
science. She went on to receive her masters degree as a physician assistant
at Cornell University. She then returned to Michigan and was employed for 3
years in surgery at Sinai Grace Hospital. She joined Detroit Bariatrics in June
of 2007.

Sue Reister is our medical billing specialist. She has over 15 years of
experience. She attended Wayne State University and was certified as a
pharmacy technician. She has also attended specialized programs
through BCBS and Medicare.

Baker College, with a certification in medical billing. She assists in

health clubs, to hospitals, helping people lose weight, eat right
and maintain overall health. Rachel has experience working with
bariatric patients in a hospital setting. Rachel is in our office on
